◎ Canon Point: Chapter 127 - After the play
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? Nope
◎ Background/History: Isogai on the Assassination Classroom wiki
◎ Personality:
The modest male class representative of Class 3-E is a morale booster, emotionally-driven, concerned with the individual as much as the whole and very mature; even for the class known around campus as that of the losers or delinquents he is a model student and able to attract the intrigue of part of the main building population. People within the series consider him a natural admirable figure, undoubtedly worth listening to when uniting the class, and he is comforting to be with. Because he doesn't boast and it's clear he does not think of himself as better than anyone from the way he doesn't bring attention to himself, those who get to know him don't get envious for him being good at a lot of things. In fact, the Class E situation might have heightened his already-present sympathy for others, and he considers it one of his most important responsibilities to keep everyone motivated and happy. To students who are more distant such as Terasaka and Karma, he even tries to get them to ease up so they can join everyone, not by force or sternness but to first take them as friends. In a variant on the famous phrase associated with the styles of rule of Three Unifiers of Japan, a catchphrase of his is:
"If the cuckoo bird doesn't sing, let's all sing!"
Harmony is an important word to him, and despite being a minor character he can often be seen rallying everyone with short speeches of reassurance, and being the one to relay plans even if not necessarily coming up with them on his own. Their main teacher in assassination techniques notes he may be the center of carrying out their plans, his charisma reaches out to the different students and 3-E, and he is able to bring out the best in their abilities. His leadership style isn't from leading up the far front, but to be beside those he fights with. He isn't headstrong and bold with decisions, rather he's a gentle but steadfast supporter who happens to be influential and has a position to take charge. In this way, he can pick others up when they fall, and they can likewise support Isogai in the moments that he falters. Isogai genuinely enjoys caring for others, and he is able to smile wide upon their victory in the Boutaoshi arc that to have gotten to know such kind friends, showing his optimistic disposition, able to find blessing in hardship and experience.
"You know, to have everyone here fight alongside me... It made me think, 'I'm glad I'm poor'."
Responsibility was thrust upon him most significantly at the start of his middle school life, when his father passed away. With only his sickly mother and two younger siblings, he has to work hard and took on as much as he could to alleviate some of the stress from his mom. So while maintaining his mature, composed aura and being able to smile when talked to, he tirelessly makes sure that the class he's representative over is happy, and also helps around the house to do a number of chores and to tutor or babysit. Most challenging of the expenditures were his siblings' and his own tuition fees to deal with. Isogai took on a part-time job to help make ends meet, while knowing it was against the school rules, and he tried to keep it secret. But when he got caught, this was when he was sent to Class E. When the situation worsened again that year and he really needed the money, he maintained another job as a waiter (or perhaps never stopped working at all) and was discovered a second time, leading to the events of his arc. Notably, because of their struggling financial situation, it is reasonable to assume family was in mind when he headed the sub-group of 3-E focused on active attempts for Korosensei's bounty.
His most treasured item listed in the character book isn't material unlike most his 15-year old peers, it is his family, and best friend from childhood Maehara, whom he is regularly seen with more often than not. Despite their differences, with Maehara being significantly more spontaneous and carefree, they are able to better understand each other more than anyone else and have never been in a fight. Even if Isogai has many friends, it seems unlikely from the way it was worded in his relations page that he can really be considered particularly close with anyone else in his class. As it stands, responsible people do tend to keep things to themselves on the belief that they can handle it, so Maehara is able to tell his true feelings when he hides things, and looks out for him. He's also able to get him to lighten up and enjoy himself. Their length of time having known each other might factor into it, but more than that their already present chemistry--what counts most of all is that Maehara is someone Isogai considers irreplaceable. Without the presence of Maehara or other friends, Isogai would in likelihood be quieter, not necessarily shy, but definitely with less of the radiance around others he's popular for.
Isogai is frankly is too focused on work a lot of the time, even accepting additional responsibilities without proper second thought, that he would probably be lost where to even start again with hobbies. His actions are usually headed by plans to benefit someone, those important to him or for a higher purpose of kindness or making amends. Being told to think what he wants to do, for himself, and having free time on its own would throw him off. With all that's happened to him in the recent years and the training in both mind and fitness from the Assassination Classroom to handle, it may be important for him to rediscover what things he finds fun. A small thing he's been noted to enjoy is appearance-wise, he considers presentation important. Despite being the one from a poor background, he puts in the effort to be one of the two boys to wear the full uniform within 3-E. And even with bargain sale clothing, he is able to coordinate so well that they don't look cheap at all. From these instances, it's personal headcanon with some grounds that fashion is one of those things he can genuinely enjoy without too much focus on practical value. His wardrobe is still limited out of the higher importance on bills and groceries, so he'd be very happy to receive clothes as gifts!
For the most part Isogai doesn't hold negative feelings against people, which isn't necessarily good or bad a trait on its own. He doesn't believe accusations without evidence, and tried to defend Korosensei from being an underwear thief despite how he eyewitness reports sounded a lot like him. Even with threat of expulsion, he was able to extend a hand to Asano Gakushuu for a well-fought battle, fully knowing it was a setup to destroy the class's not only morale but also their bodies. He sincerely said he doesn't think his own problems amount to much, to what he perceived were the burdens on his then-rival. He's can empathize even with those who by definition should be regarded as antagonists, and continue to regard his own bad circumstances as not much. The only instance he's ever been seen seen with disgust or the semblance of anger in his face was the adversity of the class in the face of Takaoka Akira, a man who fully intended to kill his classmates just for when Class E humiliated him by beating him in his own challenge. Even in the few instances when classmates loudly disagreed with him, Isogai usually only fell quiet or got flustered and confused at worst. It's safe to assume it takes extreme situations to get him to think badly of anyone, and he generally doesn't.
Overall, Isogai is popular for a number of reasons, good looks and warm personality and apt skills, he's considered to be a total package. But he's also potentially too co-dependent in terms of having a purpose due to how accustomed he is to being relied on, and needs to be around people dear to him. And even while becoming friends to him comes easy, opening his heart about his negative feelings might take another deeper level, difficult to reach. Because he never complains and he considers it a sort of calling of his to look after others, it has to be firmly asserted by friends who want to return the favor. He also needs to learn how to have fun again, so with hope someone will teach him to enjoy now rather than only the future.
◎ Powers/Abilities:
Subject to jokes of perfection in-series, Isogai really has a lot of good points it's almost scary. However, these are still within the bounds of him being a (more-or-less) normal person, only that he's very versatile.
** - A corporation and military co-developed full-body hooded uniform; light and resistant to shock, fire, stretching, severing. Complete with equippable gloves, and bouncy shoes for mobility. Able to be camouflaged with spray dye. More detailed descriptions in linked page and the 2 following pages.

◎ Sense: Sight - Isogai is able to do things due to feeling the presence of others, but even in watching over people, he is able to do it from a distance and is respectful of boundaries. Seeing someone he trusts directly beside him is also a great source of comfort. A class representative, big brother, best friend, and all-in-all caring person, he notices many of the little things, considering them all important. In its more straightforward sense, he is also one of two top of his class in kinetic vision, showing in his sharp reflexes.

◎ Third-Person Sample:
These were things they already took up earlier in the school year, back in 3-E with Korosensei, so the homework was easy, the lesson was still fresh in his memory. Within a half hour of staying in the classroom, he had promptly finished, and looked over it. He felt confident enough that it wouldn't need a review.
It was odd, he considered, maybe he would never get used to a school life without that octopus teacher of theirs again. The teaching pace here might not have been necessarily slow, but Korosensei was much faster with his curriculum, adding onto that, Kunugigaoka's already ruthlessness on the level of lessons taught to middle school students. Since he had taught them how to thoroughly dissect these problems, Isogai was also able to better move across such questions without thinking too much if he made a reckless mistake, only needing a glance over to see if things made sense. He trusted his instincts, but he'd likely still look at it again later while eating, he figured. Just in case.
Still, with his haste, he left himself without much of anything to do after. In this new city, he wasn't sure he was in the mood to really explore either. From the window he could see a cloud slowly move across the sky, he felt about as sluggish as it, movement wise. But he wanted to still do something.
At the side of the classroom, he sees a classmate practically wilted at their desk. He couldn't see their expression from here, but that slouch definitely meant they were stumped or otherwise tired. Were they alright? Maybe with hopes, it was just a matter about the paper that was underneath them. Anyway with something more serious most people wouldn't stick around skulking in school grounds.
Smiling gently, he tilts his head and tries to make it so that his approach isn't overly intimidating. While out of a genuine wish to help, it's honestly in part of also getting himself to make himself useful. He never felt right otherwise. And with this new school, he had to make a start with making friends with his new classmates. Or at the very least, amicable acquaintances.
The stranger seemed to have been out of it enough to not really hear his footsteps. Isogai clears his throat, trying to sound polite enough while doing so.
"Excuse me... are you alright?"
He followed up, "If it's about the homework, I can help with it, if you'd like."

Subject to jokes of perfection in-series, Isogai really has a lot of good points it's almost scary. However, these are still within the bounds of him being a (more-or-less) normal person, only that he's very versatile.
- He's considered one of the most promising of the Class E students in assassination skills, being the best at knifework while also having great marksmanship skills, second among the boys.
- His leadership ability makes him evaluated as the heart of many of their plans. He often says the motivational words that get the class pumped up.
- Along with the rest of the class, was taught freerunning as of Chapter 81, able to maneuver across uneven or difficult terrain swiftly.
- Looking after others, he is able to see the best in them and give reassurance. Friends are drawn to helping him out as well, serving as his support so that he doesn't face things by himself.
- Academics are good across the map, with an aggregate score 4th overall in their already prestigious school by the time their final tests rolled around.
- Isogai is canonically very charming and the most popular boy of his class, unconsciously able to make people swoon over him just by being himself (and leading to the running gag where they keep calling him flawless). Outside school too, age difference seemingly doesn't deter admirers.
- He is an excellent cook.
- Due to his family's poor background, Isogai also has knowledge of how to best save and cut expenditures.
- Ambidexterity, was shown using both left and right in writing several occasions on top of knives, so regardless of if it was trained or natural might be able to use this to his advantage in certain situations.
